What: Adult basic education refers to training in areas such as math, reading, and science for adults who did not finish high school.

How: Depending on where you live, you may have the choice of:
Night school classes
Day school programs
Cost: Often free or at minimal cost. However, you may have to allow for travel and babysitting costs.
Keep in mind: If you're taking courses from your Board of Education, make sure the Board recognizes any upgrading course you took from another source as an "equivalent" to a high school credit. You can state such equivalent courses on your résumé-for example, "Grade 12 equivalence in mathematics."
